American. 1870s. 26� x 15� x 38� Manufactured circa 1870 by the Howe Manufacturing Company which was owned by the Stockwell Brothers. It has the typical Howe stand and the brass Medallion of ELIAS HOWE JR INVENTOR & MAKER NEW YORK USA. The cloth plate has patents dated Sept 10, 1846, Aug 24, 1858 and April 2, 1867.
