Description
German. 1920s-50s. FOUR (4) machines with dimensions 7.75�-8.75� x 4.5�-5� x 6.75�-7�H, manufactured by Carl Sieper, Gevelsberg Westfalen Germany (1902-1976). These toy sewing machines are all single thread chain stitch machines. The Art Deco designed machine (back left) has an exposed mechanism. No 116 is written on the back side and MADE IN GERMANY BRITISH ZONE is stamped on the cloth plate. The solid red metal machine (back right) has a closed mechanism. The black machine (front left) has brilliant red poppies, cornflowers and grain painted on both front, back and base surfaces. The orchid colour Casige (front right) has a closed mechanism.
