Canadian. 1878. The Canadian patent office granted thousands of patents for agricultural devices since its inception in 1824. This "Lady Dufferin" 1878 patent model was made by C.A. Davidson, Mount Forest, Ontario. A painstakingly sophisticated working scale model of a reaping machine with functioning sail blades, fans, height adjustment. Marked, "LADY DUFFERIN" Manufactured by C.A. Davison Mount Forest, Ont. Pat'd Applied For March 2nd 1878". Stamped, "C. Davison", upper rear wheel bracket. 16 x 13 x 7" (H).
